With the Guardian hosting a preview to listen to ahead of it’s release. Live Magazine contributor Aurora Mitchell decided to offer us her view of the record..
“Beirut have been through a series of difficulties including exhaustion in the past. With a two year wait for fans to hear the third album ‘The Rip Tide’ expectations from faithful fans has built up. After frontman Zach Condon recorded the praised double EP ‘March of the Zapotec & Realpeople:Holland’ in 2009, ‘The Rip Tide’ is reminiscent of an old fashioned marching band with Beirut bringing a theatrical atmosphere to their music – similar to Arcade Fire who they recently supported at Hyde Park. Although they stick to a tried and tested style, this album is guaranteed to make you smile on a rainy day.”
Out on Pompeii Records, August 30th.
