Two weeks ago I received some exciting news over the phone. CreativeNerds were shortlisted for the Spirit of London Awards for our achievements through Media. The Spirit of London Awards celebrates and shines a spotlight on young people who are making a positive difference in London.
From those who have raised thousands of pounds for local communities to groups who have helped provide a platform for young people within their area.
The Awards stand for empowering and inspiring young people. They are run by young people, for young people, the Awards brings together the 32 London Boroughs to celebrate their own,and each other’s achievements.
On Monday, being part of the ‘Class of 2011′. Sam & myself visited No.10 to meet the Prime Minister and a host of celebs. Fair to say it was all a bit crazy, we were so humbled to have been even nominated. Amongst us were a host of celebs who we met including Tinchy Stryder, Jermain Defoe, Stacey Solomon, Eddie Kadi..
All 30 nominees were taken into a room where we met the other poeple within our category and this also allowed us to network and socialise with some other young entreprenurs. To be standing in a room with 29 other inspiring, positive & motivated young poeple was such an amazing experience. We were so humbled to have been part of such an event.
Starting CreativeNerds years back, sitting in my bedroom working on a MySpace layout for Tinchy Stryder, never did I think we would be standing inside No.10 Downing Street. But I think we are just on one side of the awards, amongst the nominees there are some amazing young poeple who have gone to extreme lengths for the benifit of others, those are the real heros and ones who should gain the recognition for their hard work.
When David Cameron came to meet our category I was the first to greet him and speak about our company, sure to say he wasn’t as I expected. Just seemed like any other normal person. As usual people always have something to say about our name of ‘CreativeNerds’ his was a little laugh and ‘I bet that was a risky option to go with for a company, but you seem to have got on the right path!”
The Spirit of London Awards take place on the 10th of October at the Royal Albert Hall, untill then there will be a load of media coverage about the event, lets spread the positive word about the young people who have been nominated for the awards (including us haha)! Oh and a massive thank you to Jamal, Rick, Liam and the rest of the SB.TV team who were down at the event too. I think you may see our faces on one of the videos!
